The Caterham CT05 sported one of the most unusual solutions to the new 2014 nose regulations when made its maiden appearance on the first day of testing on January 28th.
The front of the chassis tapered to a point from which a long, slender nose was attached to the front wing.
While many of their fellow Renault engine users managed little running in the first tests, Caterham covered considerably more mileage.

Is it just me or does the Caterham look like it’ll struggle for pace this year, based on looks alone? The sidepods are absolutely huge with a large bodywork cross-section remaining around the gearbox area.
Add to that what Kobayashi’s said in the press about it being slower than GP2 (while Merc are putting in laps that are approaching only a second slower than last year’s pole time at Bahrain) and the woes at Renault and it doesn’t paint a good picture.
Utter conjecture but I’d personally be surprised to see the team survive in their current guise beyond 2014; Fernandes will surely run out of patience.
