This car is make or break car for McLaren. Unless they are within half a second of Red Bull, all their former excuses are void.

I'm really hoping that the "simplistic" approach to aero by RB last year is not what happens with McLaren this year. I really hope this car generates the down force to play at the top. Mind you it looks fantastic, the livery is just killer.

Great write-up, Will. One thing that really caught my eye with the McLaren was the rear wing endplate: that sculpted front 'gill' is a regulation loophole I love to see being exploited.

I am excited for McLaren this year. The subtle body work is very interesting to see in comparison to the other cars. I am a fan of the color as well, as polarizing as it is. It's sharp!

In reply to kpcart. The idea in itself was a very good one, but it was unreliable and difficult to get working consistently. Teams have since come up with much more stable aerodynamic features (i.e. vortex structures) to produce a similar effect
