Having switched back to Renault power Williams enjoyed a much more successful 2012 season with the FW34.
The greatest high was unquestionably the Spanish Grand Prix, where Pastor Maldonado ended their eight-year wait for a victory.
But there should have been other good results too had errors by the drivers not meant the FW34 all to often finished races lower than it should have, or involved in an incident with another car. Eighth in the constructors’ championship was clearly less than the car was capable of.
