Hi, everyone! My first post! :)

Please, could anyone tell me why Force India didn’t inherit the results and history of Jordan, Midland and Spyker? Is it because new owners changed the country in which they licenced team? Red Bull and Sauber did similar things, but didn’t lose results? Going through Wikipedia pages of those teams, i can’t find a good reason why Force India shouldn’t be just a “renamed” Jordan.

I imagine it is because there was a big change of ownership, like Jordan owned Jordan, then the midland group bought them, then the spyker group bought them out the Vijay bought them out. Red Bull didn’t get Stewarts or Jaguars statistics. BMW Sauber and Sauber were combined probably because (a) BMW owned 90% of the team, no 100% and (b) Sauber was still part of the team name

Yes Vettel Fan is correct, it would come down to the actual ownership of the business entity (In F1 I think its always a company) rather than just a renaming. If Force India just re-branded to the terrible proposed name Force One its the same company and same ownership – historic records would remain. If a new company bought the team, takes over the factory facilities, drivers and staff its a whole new entity and they start from scratch. Red Bull didn’t inherit Jaguars history as it was a change in ownership therefore a new team.

    Good first post :)
