Prema has become the first team to complete their line-up for the 2024 FIA Formula 3 season, and will field three Formula 1 junior drivers.
Second-year drivers Dino Beganovic and Gabriele Mini, juniors of Ferrari and Alpine respectively, had already been announced and will be joined in the Prema garage next year by Red Bull’s Arvid Lindblad.The Anglo-Swede has been a hotly watched prospect since karting, where he first attracted the attention and patronage of Formula E driver Oliver Rowland and later Red Bull. Lindblad won two major championships in Europe at the junior level, then in senior karting was third in the European and World championships.
He made his car racing debut in September 2022, contesting three rounds of the Italian Formula 4 championship before joining Prema for a three-pronged F4 programme in 2023. He came fifth in the United Arab Emirates championship, where he took his first race win, was third in the Italian championship where he took six wins, and fourth in the new Euro 4 series.
“I’m super-excited to be continuing with Prema for 2024 in FIA F3. We had a great year in F4 together, leading and competing for both championships for the whole season,” said Lindblad.
“Prema has been very strong in F3 this year, and that’s why I’m really excited and honoured to have the opportunity to continue and move up the ranks with them. We had positive post-season tests together with good progression and steps made, and I can’t wait for the season to get started.”
Although no other teams in F3 have announced drivers for 2024, the grid for the upcoming Macau Grand Prix should be a strong indicator of who will be racing where next year. Trident has Euro 4 champion and McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu in its Macau line-up, Hitech GP is running Williams junior Luke Browning and Campos Racing has Red Bull junior Pepe Marti on its books.
